Our Spray Foam Insulation Services
To best serve our customers here in North East Texas, we offer two main forms of insulation services. Depending on what your building needs, we offer both open-cell spray foam insulation and closed-cell spray foam insulation. Let’s take a look at the differences between the two to determine which one is best for your next home improvement project.
1. Open-Cell Spray Foam Insulation
Insulation Makeup:
- Cells are open, allowing for water vapor to pass through the walls. This could benefit a home in the south where the weather is warmer because it allows the hot, moist air to pass through the insulation, and then it dries inside the house
- Unable to act as a water vapor barrier, meaning that it can be more susceptible to mold
- To avoid this, you could apply a polyethylene vapor barrier on the inside of the wall
Best used:
- In warmer climates to cool the building
- For vented attics
Benefits:
- Blocks air movement
- Open-cell spray foam is more economical to install and requires fewer resources
- Not as effective as closed-cell for insulating, at R3.5 – R3.7 per inch
2. Closed-Cell Spray Foam Insulation
Insulation Makeup:
- The cells are closed, meaning that it’s denser and strengthens the structure of the building
Best used:
- In colder climates to keep the building warm
Benefits:
- When applied thickly, it can act as a vapor barrier and can completely eradicate the potential for mold growth
- Completely blocks air movement to avoid drafts
- Extremely effective for insulating at R6 per inch
Since we’re located here in Northeast Texas, we don’t have to worry as much about severe cold fronts in the wintertime. We do, however, have scorching hot summers!
